学術会議会員任命拒否問題に関するアジア経営学会会長声明：一人の会員，評議員として支持します

　学術会議会員任命問題について，アジア経営学会の会長声明が発表されました。事務局から全会員メーリングリストに配信された連絡によれば，本件を社会的問題というより学会活動や学術研究のありかたに影響しかねない問題をはらんでいるものととらえ，またアジア経営学会は日本学術会議の「協力学術研究団体」であって間接的に当事者であることを踏まえ，理事会討議の上で会長声明発表に至ったとのことです。

　会員であり評議員である一人として，上田義朗会長と理事会の熟慮と勇気に敬意を表し，支持いたします。

日本学術会議会員任命問題についてのアジア経営学会会長声明

アジア経営学会は、アジアの人々と連携し、内外研究者の共同と親睦を深め、アジアの経営学の研究と普及を盛んにすることを設立理念としてうたっております。

その活動をすすめるうえでは、わが国における学問の自由（academic freedom）の保障が必要です。この観点からみますと、この度の政府による日本学術会議会員の任命拒否には、学問の自由な発展と普及を委縮させる懸念があります。

そこで日本学術会議の協力学術研究団体であるアジア経営学会を代表して、私は日本学術会議第181回総会における内閣総理大臣に対する以下の要望について賛同・支持することを表明いたします。

第25期新規会員任命に関して、次の２点を要望する。

１．2020年９月30日付で山極壽一前会長がお願いしたとおり、推薦した会員候補者が任命されない理由を説明いただきたい。

２．2020年８月31日付で推薦した会員候補者のうち、任命されていない方について、速やかに任命していただきたい。

Statement on the Rejection of Nominees to the Science Council of Japan

The Japan Scholarly Association for Asian Management (JSAAM) was founded to develop and encourage Asian business and management research and to deepen cooperation and friendship among researchers in and out of Asia.

The guarantee of academic freedom is a prerequisite in the promotion of our activities. From this viewpoint, the government’s rejection to appoint certain nominees to the

Science Council of Japan this time can lead to restricting academic freedom not only in Japan but also in other Asian countries.

Therefore, on behalf of the members of JSAAM, a cooperative academic research organization of the Science Council of Japan, I would like to express our agreement with and support for the following requests to the Prime Minister of Japan issued by the 181st General Assembly of the Science Council of Japan. Concerning the appointment of new members to the 25th term of the Science Council of Japan, we request the following:

1. As former President Juichi Yamagiwa requested on 30 September 2020, we ask for an explanation of the reasons why the six nominees were not appointed.

2. We ask for the prompt appointment of the said nominees who were on the list of nominees submitted on 31 August 2020.
